Group Proposal (1st draft)

Film 202

Project Proposal

Our discussion group project will be based on a spontaneous public performance, which will examine psychology of performance, concepts of public space, relationship/involvement with public, community mentality, and our performance collaboration with spectators. The performance medium will be dance, to yet to be decided selections of music; as well as the relationship between our public display and surrounding spectators. We will also document the process through film/image, from pre-production to performance, which will them be edited down to a short documentary, telling the story of our social experiment and all potential, if not, actual collaboration with the public.

To begin our project, we'll first need to get permission for our performance in the UWM union. Our time and date is currently set for the discussion period on November 18th. After we're scheduled for the performance we'll need to decide what music we're going to use, and any possible collaborative clothing, colors, or pieces of apparel we'll be wearing; something small that unifies us as a group. Equipment and group positions will also need to be divided (i.e. camera, music, stereo; dancers, recorders, editors). Our final edit of the (mini) documentary will be finished on time, as designated in the class syllabus.
